Brainspotting is a technique discovered and developed by Dr. David Grand while he was performing EMDR with clients. It is used to help people access, process, and overcome mental barriers, it is different from other approaches in that it allows the client to optimize their nervous system in a way that aligns with their desired outcome. Brainspotting bypasses the “thinking” brain by finding spots in your visual field that help to process blocks lingering in the subcortical emotional and body-based parts of the brain. Although Brainspotting is relatively new, there are several promising research papers and case studies that have already come out supporting its efficacy.

I was first exposed to Brainspotting during my own personal process. I tried different approaches but no matter how much insight I gained or actions I took, the issues I was dealing with wouldn’t resolve. After experiencing Brainspotting firsthand and seeing how effective it could be, I decided to get trained in the technique and use it as the primary tool in my practice. Later, I got trained to be a consultant for certification. Although I have worked side by side with mental health professionals, I am not a therapist. I see myself as a practiced facilitator who strives to create a space for my clients to achieve their goals, whatever that may be. I serve the Grand Junction, CO area through my office in Fruita and offer sessions and consultation online wherever you are, In English or Hebrew.
